Here at Summer's Best Two Weeks Citikidz, we often seek to encourage you with messages and life lessons. This L.I.F.E. devotional is from another perspective. Meet Kendra Pope, the author of the "My Name is Mommy" blog, mother of 5 children under 8 years old, and wife of the director of Citikidz Christian Sports Camps. Susanna Grace Pope Birth Announcement

On October 31, 2013 at 2:45 p.m., Kendra voxed T. Pope to say that she had a pretty painful contraction. We waited until the contractions progressed. It was a dark and stormy Halloween evening when we set out for the hospital at around 5:30 p.m. We arrived at the hospital at around 6:10 p.m. The midwife Cindy checked Kendra and found her to be 5 centimeters at around 6:35 p.m. The nurse Yolanda Siegel checked Kendra again around 7:15 p.m. at Kendra’s request/feeling the need to push and she had progressed to 8 or 9 centimeters. At that point, Kendra received Nubain and the midwife came in to break her water at 7:32 p.m. At 7:51 p.m. in 3 pushes, Kendra delivered Susanna Grace Pope who was 9 lbs. 8 oz. and 21½  inches long. She is gorgeous, has a decent amount of hair and is indeed a bundle of joy. Mommy and baby Susanna Grace are home. Thank you all for praying!

Yet Another Winner

It was another amazing summer of ministry at SB2Dub! I want to say thank you and God bless you to all kaleos, campers, nurses, staff, visitors, special guests, and groups that came to make 2013 a very special summer...our first full summer of ministry here at Citikidz Christian Sports Camp.

You will all be pleased to note that of the nearly 450 campers who came through the camp gate, 185 made first time decisions to follow Christ, 225 communicated that they desire to grow in their faith, 65 communicated a need and interest in having a mentor, 88 communicated that they sense God calling them into some form of full-time vocational ministry, and 184 made commitments to keep their virginity until marriage. I know what the statistics say, but they aren’t as relevant where God is at work, and He is certainly moving in the lives of the campers you had the opportunity to shepherd.

It has been a tremendous blessing hearing people describe the fellowship, challenge, adventure, and growth experienced while here. We thought it would be a blessing for you to hear what others have said as well. We felt like this note encapsulated the summer and the comments we have heard from families, kaleos, campers, and staff…

“I want to take a moment to thank you, and let you know how much this past week meant to me and how much God used you and camp in my walk with Christ. I sensed the presence of God at Citikidz very strongly, and I was overwhelmed by His love, grace, and holiness. Each one of my campers experienced God in some way, and it is so comforting to know they heard the Gospel very clearly multiple times each day they were at camp. I am excited to continue to disciple my boys and recruit a few more for next year! Thank you for all you did and are doing.”

We love you all and CANNOT wait until the start of Citikidz 2014: Outbreak!!!!

Impact Speaker Recap Blog Post by Brittany Carter

Speaker Recap: Timotheus Pope

January 9, 2013 in Blog/Updates
The Key to Being the Mission in Action: Fitness
By Brittany Carter, Impact12 blogger
Timotheus Pope doesn’t want to mislead you. He’s not a pastor. He’s the director of a Christian sports camp and it shows. His no nonsense, fast-paced, ultra inspirational delivery are components that I’m sure have driven many a legendary athlete to greatness and, on Saturday night, December 29th, it was used to encourage hundreds of Impact conferees to strive for spiritual, mental, and moral fitness.
His deep reverence for the Lord was immediately challenging and sobering. “God saved you and is worthy of your worship.  But, to be honest, He would be worthy of your worship even if He didn’t save you.”  His numerous articulations about God’s sovereignty and omnipotence were both humorous and matter-of-fact.  There was something about Mr. Pope’s desire to, as he puts it, “not just be acquainted with God’s works but His ways” that stirred something up in me. He invoked a competitive edge in my spirit that I only feel when I meet someone truly exceptional.  It goes something like…“Dag, I wanna love God like THAT!!”
For me, the highlight of the message was how clear the need to have a heart that is softened toward God at all times became. As Mr. Pope took us through Jeremiah 44, he showed us how being spiritually unfit wasn’t a state of passivity or inertia, but conscious choice. The inhabitants of Judah had gone rogue and stopped filtering things through their understanding of God’s word.  Aren’t we all prone to this kind of hardening? In our flesh, isn’t this our reflexive response when get restless or frustrated and things aren’t going our way? It is only with a deliberate softening of our hearts that we can begin to look for God in every place and in anything. By the end of the evening session, I realized that this is where Mr. Pope’s passion that so captivated me had come from.
The key to being the mission in action is framing everything by our relationship with God.  Having eyes and ears that look and listen for Him everywhere.  Developing a Biblical understanding which fully grasps the idea that the Bible can cut to our souls and speak into our hearts because God’s Word is more than good. It’s true.  No, Mr. Pope certainly did not disappoint during his first time ministering at the Impact Conference.  His obedience to the Holy Spirit was so palpable.  I hope to hear from him again (and again) in years to come.

SB2DUB HAS A NEW HOME!!!!!!!!!!!!! AND I MEAN NEW!!!!!!!!!!!

Local summer camp looks to expand opportunities for urban youth (click here to read the press release)

I have some AMAZING news about Summer's Best Two Weeks Citikidz. About 6 years ago, a retired Pittsburgh CEO decided to purchase and renovate an old Girl Scout facility 11 miles from our Lake Gloria property in order to build a camp for urban youth . They built winterized facilities on 130 acres of property including a gorgeous dining hall, an indoor sports complex, with a weight room and theatre space within, a state of the art climbing wall, a play pool with two water slides, and 10 cabins to accommodate campers and staff. Well, here we are 6 years later and the family has chosen to GIVE THIS PROPERTY TO SUMMER'S BEST TWO WEEKS!!!!!!!!!!!! That's right, I said "GIVE!"

We have prayed and sought the Lord's face on where to be and what to do for 8 years!!!!!!!! And He JUST GAVE US A HOME!!!!!!!!!!! I would LOVE for ALL of you to be able to see it this summer or shortly thereafter.

Please pray for the resources to continue to operate (we will be initiating a capital campaign), that God would fill camp to overflowing with campers, that the Lord would provide the appropriate staff, and the HE WOULD CONTINUE TO DO EXCEEDING AND ABUNDANTLY ABOVE ALL WE COULD ASK OR THINK!!!!!!!!!!!

Back and Forth, but Miraculous

"Amazing update! Amazing blessings from God on Friday and we are still experiencing miraculous recoveries in small steps. My brother Ben got to the house at 4 am. Alli started talking, well whispering  and is responsive and is asking for water and juice. It's an amazing day (Friday). We still do not know what to expect but it's a miracle. She had a miscarriage tonight (Friday night/Saturday morning). We are at UPMC horizon in Farrell right now (Friday) so she can have the placenta removed. The danger is bleeding issues. We talked to Allisons neurosurgeon and he said her recovery is supernatural."

Today the Good's are doing well and though Alli has still not completely recovered, we are experiencing small miraculous victories. They have moved Alli back to Presby and think she is stable enough to put a shunt in her head to drain excess fluid into her stomach. Please continue to pray.
